Awarded a contract for the EPC construction of N.2 132 kV substations in Italy

STE ENERGY Srl has been awarded a contract for the EPC construction of N.2 132 kV substations in Italy with an international major energy operator. The substations will allow the connection of 2 BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) plants for a total of 50 MVA capacity.

STE Energy – as leader of a partnership (JV) with ESI S.p.A. – will be in charge of the whole substation engineering (covering electrical, automation and civil design), the supply of all electromechanical equipment and commissioning.

“This achievement further confirms STE Energy’s commitment in supporting the development of such a “booming” market like the Italian RES one. The integration with renewable power plants of batteries and storage systems – including hydrogen systems – has been a key driver of STE Energy’s industrial strategy during the last few years. STE Energy, operating in more than 30 countries worldwide, is supporting the decarbonization process. Italy will soon solve the last procedural issues blocking a real deployment of the many planned RES projects, heading towards an actual green energy transition.”

Stefano Scarpa, President of STE Energy

“This contract is a confirmation of STE Energy’s engineering and construction capabilities in high-voltage electrical infrastructures. Our 26-year experience of EPC contracting in the RES sector allows us to be acknowledged and awarded as a qualified contractor for high-complexity projects like these two substations, meant to serve the connection of battery storage plants.”

Fabio Pasut, CEO of STE Energy

New contract awarded in the hydrogen sector!

New contract awarded in the hydrogen sector!

As part of its steady effort supporting the global decarbonization process STE Energy has been awarded – in partnership with Enphos – a contract for the design, supply and installation of a HYDROGEN SYSTEM meant to store and manage energy for the “Noi TechPark” in Brunico, North of Italy.

Key feature of the plant is the storage system based on METAL-HYDRIDES technology, which helps in sensibly reducing the working pressure and temperature, thus further increasing the safety level. Among the many hydrogen projects in the world, this is one of the few adopting the metal-hydrides cutting edge technology for H2 storage in stationary applications.

Hydrogen is universally considered an important energy vector for combating climate change and STE Energy has been committed for years now – as a forerunner – to facilitating the integration of energy storage capabilities (based either on H2 or on batteries) into renewable power plants.

One step towards the renewable power plants digitalization.

One step towards the renewable power plants digitalization.

STE Energy has completed the full revamping of the automation control system & SCADA of n.3 hydropower plants (30MW) in Panama.

Thanks to its advanced monitoring, analytic and reporting features, our Client chose the STE Guardian software for the new local Control Operation & Business Center, set up by STE Energy, directly connected both to national dispatch center and to the United States Headquarters.

“STE Guardian is a powerful platform which is perfectly integrated into the automation system. It fully meets our need of being informed anytime and anywhere about the status of our power plants. Moreover, it includes a lot of functionalities, which will be very helpful to improve the management of the power plants”

Energy Management system for hydrogen generation, storage and transformation systems

STE Energy and Sardegna Ricerche have undertaken a joint research project for the development of a control and monitoring system for the production, storage and transformation of green hydrogen integrated in the microgrid of the Agency.

Marialaura Lucariello, coordinator of the project, will present it in a Facebook and YouTube live stream.

STE Energy has signed a contract for VLH turbine supply in Georgia

STE Energy has signed a contract for VLH turbine supply in Georgia

“A small head for a man, one giant leap for such a lovely country!” The contract scope of work includes Engineering, Supply and Support to local installation of the electromechanical equipment for a small hydro power plant located in western Georgia, on the Kvirila river.

Core technology of the electromechanical package is the Very Low Head (“VLH”) turbine, equipped with permanent magnet generator.

This is the first installation of such an advanced technology in the Caucasus, paving the way for other similar projects meant to harness the huge hydropower potential of the area.

Going on with the implementation of innovative solutions for hydroelectric plants with very low environmental impact

Going on with the implementation of innovative solutions for hydroelectric plants with very low environmental impact

STE Energy has been awarded, by an important player in the electricity sector, the design development of a power plant with a VLH turbine located in Italy. This is the first step towards the construction of the new plant to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

The new plant will take advantage of the head of an existing protection barrier in one of the main rivers in northern Italy: considering the possible significant flow of the river, the turbine will be equipped with an upgraded trash rack cleaning system provided with a telescopic arm.

Another VLH turbine will provide renewable energy to the electrical grid

Another VLH turbine will provide renewable energy to the Italian national grid by the end of 2021. A new contract has been signed for the construction of a hydropower plant with a VLH turbine (vlh-turbine.com) of over 300kW in the province of Pavia. The plant will take advantage of the existing head created by a protection barrier of a bridge over the Terdoppio river.

This VLH will be equipped with the new innovative trash rack as well as the automatic sediment trap system installed on the bottom of the machine.
